Scarce Original 1941 Dated British Army 'Coats, Duffle' - Size 2

A rare original British Army 'Coats, Duffle' which was made in 1941 and is in good condition.

This jacket is made from a white coloured wool which is the same as that used for the Fear Naught jackets. This same heavy wool was used for the more common duffle coats which were longer and made in a fawn colour. The jacket is designed to be worn as an outer layer and is therefore cut in a loose manner. It features a short collar, two patch pockets to the front and fastens with three wooden toggles and rope loops.

Inside the coat the original label is present and is still totally legible. It bears the title of 'Coats Duffle' below which is the size of 2 which is intended to fit a 40" - 42" chest. It also bears the maker's name of 'Prices Tailors Ltd., Proprietors of The Fifty Shilling Tailors'. The date of September 1941 is also present as is the War Department broad arrow. 

The coat is cut in a wide manner and when laid flat it measures - 

Chest - 26 1/2"
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 24"
Shoulders - 19 1/2"
Length - 29"

The coat is in good condition for its age and displays well. As is often the case with these coats, there is staining which is noticeable as it is a light colour. There is also a very small hand sewn repair to the rear (picture 13) and some very small holes etc. Overall it is still a very wearable jacket but the condition has been clearly illustrated in the pictures and reflected in the price. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age. 

A rare piece of British vintage military which is a genuine wartime issued example - These wartime coats are hard to find!
