1914-18 Imperial & III Reich Medal and Document Album.

An unusual 1st War & later so called "chronik" or album that was used to house medals and their associated award documents.

Manufactured from a grey/green artificial leather or Rexine type material with a black velvet interior to one side. Embossed to the outer is an Imperial German helmet and the dates 1914-1918. To the rear is the manufacturer details.

Sewn to the velvet is a 1914 Iron Cross Second Class with the maker stamp RW. The Cross has an unmarked Government standard 938 grade silver frame with an early black finished magnetic cast iron core. Also attached is a bronze finished tombak Hindenburg Cross with Swords along with an early bronze Westwall medal.

Pinned on is a small DSB badge (Deutscher Sängerbud or German Singers Association), a Brandenburg Gate pin and an unknown badge.

Contained in a separate compartment is the award document for the Hindenburg Cross named to Bricklayer August Muhs of Haan, dated 2nd May 1935 and his award document for the Westwall medal named to Steel fixer August Muss (variant spelling) of Haan, this dated 27th June 1940 and with the facsimile signature of Meissner and the large blind Eagle and Swastika seal.

Nice set.
