About this item
WW1 Post WW2 2003-2011 Iraq War Medal Lance Corporal N P Osborn Light Dragoons.
This medal is engraved “25045680 LCPL N P OSBORN LD.”
The Iraq Medal was authorised on 23 February 2004. It was a campaign medal issued to members of the British Armed Forces and certain attached personnel, who served between 20 January 2003 and 22 May 2011 on, or in support of, Operation Telic - the designation for British operations during the 2003 Invasion of Iraq and its aftermath.
The Light Dragoons (formerly 13th/18th Royal Hussars) deployed to Iraq twice as part of Operation Telic: in 2003 and 2005. During these deployments, they were involved in post-conflict stabilization, counter-insurgency operations, and training the Iraqi Police Force. In 2003, they played a role in the initial invasion and subsequent stabilization efforts, while in 2005, they focused on counter-insurgency and Iraqi police training.
