WW1 British Victory & War Medal To KIA Pte J Izatt 12th Bn Royal Scots

For sale is a WW1 British Victory & War Medal To Pte J Izatt 12th Bn Royal Scots Who was killed in action. 

  The victory and war medal are engraved “53382 Pte j izatt r Scot’s”.   John Izatt was born in 1892, Sauchie, Clackmannanshire. And lived in Alloa, Clackmannanshire upon enlistment. He was the brother of James Izatt of 8A Fairfield st, Sauchie, Alloa, Clackmannanshire.   Unfortunately John Izatt was killed in action on the 17th October 1918 aged just 26 years of age. According to the war diary it looks like John was killed in Poperinghe in Ypres. He was mistakenly reported as wounded on the 2nd December 1918. It’s not until several years later that his family was given peace, and told that he had in fact had been killed in action on the 17th October 1918. His family sent a letter on the 30th of June 1919 to 12th royal Scot’s in France “anxiously worried for johns safety” as they had not heard anything since November 1918. Sadly the family still beloved that John was alive and still serving with the 12th as late as 1919. The scan on this letter scan be seen in the research. There is much military correspondence stating that he was missing, wounded and finally killed in action which is really sad to see.     He was Remembered with Honour TYNE COT MEMORIAL Panel 11 to 14. A screenshot of the 12th battalion royal Scot’s regiment for the day of his death can be seen in the final photo.    John Izatt was entitled to the British war medal, victory medal and death plaque unfortunately the death plaque is missing.    Accompanying this medal is 16 scans of his service records.
