Awarded to Sapper Clarence Mounsear Turner served with 61st Tunnelling Company, (61st TUNN. COY.) South African Engineer Corps. 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, War Medal 1939-45 and Africa Service Medal 39-45 (125000 C. M. TURNER). Born 20th June 1916 in Oudtshoorn, South Africa. At the time of his military enlistment his civilian occupation records show he was a miner, as (Classified as non artisan) at the age of 30 years. On joining the army he joined as a Sapper with the 61st Tunnelling Company part of the Mines Engineering Brigade (MEB), South African Engineering Corps.
