We think there is a mistake to the index record as its not clear! He received his mention in the gazette posthumously!     This medal group incudes the following;   Notification of dispatch that states the following; “By the KING'S Order the name of Lance Bombardier G.C. Backhouse, Royal Artillery was published in the London Gazette on 25 March, 1944, as mentioned in a Despatch for distinguished service. I am charged to record His Majesty's high appreciation. The Council share your sorrow that L/BDR. G. C. BACKHOUSE in respect of whose service these Awards are granted did not live to receive them.   Ww2 royal artillery cap badge   Ww2 defence medal   Ww2 war medal   Ww2 africa star   Ww2 1939-45 star   These are in good condition.
