For sale is a Rare WW2 Period Economy Made Royal Mason Institution For Boys Bakelite Medal. The back of the medal is marked “London assn for the blind”. This is in good condition, and very well detailed. This is an incredibly rare item, and very little of these exist today. 

  World War II introduced the concept of 'Total War', where every activity in Britain was concentrated towards the 'war effort'. In order to 'save brass to make bullets', military cap badges and buttons were made from a type of plastic called Bakelite. However this wasn’t just a military way of doing things civilian products like mourning brooches that used to be made from brass/ or gold were then being made from bakelite.
