About this item

For sale is a WW2 Special Constabulary Long Service Medal Box To James Pember From Colne Valley.

Please note this is just the EMPTY BOX. No medal is included.    James was born on the 28th of July 1985, and he married Sarah H Pember, in 1939 he lived at Colne Valley, Yorkshire (West Riding), England with his wife and his two children Mavis Pember & John Muskett. His occupation was a woollen spinner.    During World War One James served with the 6th battalion west riding regiment at the rank of Corporal, his service number was 305160. He was entitled to a British war medal, victory medal and 1914-15 star unfortunately these are missing. He served in France from 15th of May 1915 until the end of the war. Also in 1919 he was awarded a Territorial Force Efficiency Medal (again this is missing).    During World War Two James joined the civil defence and was a special constable.    A newspaper written about his death states: “Mr. James Thomas Pember (55), of 65, Binn Road, Marsden, collapsed and died suddenly on a trolley-bus at Linthwaite on Sat-urday. Dr. L. E. Lucas, who was called from his surgery near by. pronounced life extinct. Mr. Pember was a former Football League referee, and was at one time coach to Marsden F.C., whose players on Saturday wore black armbands to his memory. An inquest will not be held.”   Unfortunately James passed away in 1950 aged 55 years of age.    This still has plenty of research potential.    Accompanying this medal box is five scans of his service records. Upon payment please let me know if you would prefer digital scans or printed copies.   This will be sent via royal mail 1st class signed for and dispatched within two working days.
