WWI South African 12th Infantry East Africa Medal Group – J. Smith, 3rd SAMR

First World War South African medal group comprising a 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory/Bilingual South African Victory Medal, together with ribbon bar and For King and Empire – Services Rendered silver war badge. The Star is named J. Smith, 3rd S.A.M.R. (South African Mounted Rifles), while the accompanying material associates the grouping with South African wartime service. A particularly desirable group due to the combination of medals, named service attribution and surviving documentation. The supplied attestation sheet pictured appears to relate to Donald Burnman Boddington, 12th S.A.I., so its direct relationship to the J. Smith medal group should be verified before describing the paperwork as belonging to the medal recipient.
