About this item
An original 1940 dated British Army 1908 pattern webbing ammunition pouch which was made by M. W. & S. Ltd. This example is a MKII Third issue pouch which features the extra straps introduced in October 1914.
This pattern of pouch was produced from 1908 and saw widespread use throughout the Great War by the British Army. The same webbing system was used throughout the inter-war period and was still being issued and produced at the beginning of the Second World War and saw service in France in 1939-40 before eventually being replaced with the new 1937 pattern webbing set.
This example is made from the standard khaki coloured webbing material and features five flapped pockets to the front which fasten with brass press studs. It has been treated with a coat of blanco which is a light green colour which is often encountered on 1908 webbing. IUt has had the extra grommet added to the 1" strap which allows it to be used in conjunction with the 1914 pattern small pack. There are markings to the rear but they are no longer legible.
The condition of the pouch is good as can be seen in the pictures. There are signs of age etc and overall it is a clean example which displays well. One of the press studs is missing its male side but this could be reinstated. Please study the pictures before purchasing as this is a pre-owned, vintage item.
A very nice example.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
