Original WW2 Jungle Green Map Case
An original WW2 period Jungle Green Map case in used condition.
This pattern of map case was introduced in 1944 for use in the tropics. It is made from a dark green cotton webbing and features a pen pocket to front and a celluloid sheet to the centre. Brass pop studs are used to close the case and are all fitted with leather washers.
There is a white label to the interior which originally read 'Keep mosquito repellent off celluloid' although it is now somewhat faded. The original owner has added his name to this label which reads 'R. Franklin'. The maker's name is also stamped in black ink and reads 'John Hawley & Co, Walsall'.
The map case is in used condition with some fading etc. Please study the pictures provided.
A nice original WW2 period item!
