54) An interesting WW2 era US military issue webbing equipment holder, this clearly has an adjustable neck strap and adjustable waist strap so is designed to hold some kind of cylinder/canister and be worn on the front, back or side of the wearer, the lace up front goes through 2 holes in the base, possibly to hold the respirator canister? It has a Quartermasters ink stamping QM-1432 which is faint but can be made out, the “3” is possibly an “8”? the item is in excellent order. the square backing measures 9 ¾ inches tall by 9 ¼ wide.
