    About this item

A manually operated WW2 German Searchlight mounted on a heavy duty Gestell 38 Tripod and complete its battery box marked to a Luftwaffe medical Unit based in St. Lo in 1944.

Manufactured I believe by Bosh the Searchlight itself is in very good condition with a diameter of about 300mm. The glass is unbroken as is the reflector lens. A bulb remains in place. Operation is by manually adjusting the light by means of a handle at each side with a locking lever and wheel on the stem to fix it in the required position. A power cable connects it to the battery box, the correct connector plug at the end of the cable.

The Gestell 38 Tripod is in very good condition, its transit strap in place to hold the legs in place when moved.

The rare Battery Box is in very good condition and still contains the batteries and the majority of its field grey paint. A Bakelite cap remains which covers the connector socket when not in use. Profusely marked, the most interesting feature being the Feldpost number L16998 a Luftwaffe Sanitätsbereitschaft (Medical readiness unit) which arrived in France in 1941and were stationed in St.Lo, Normandy until 1944 when it left as part of the retreating German forces.

An impressive display item this is COLLECTION ONLY from the Farnham area in Surrey. Please ignore any shipping costs quoted when ordering. This will be returned to the buyer.
