1941 Dated British Army Water Bucket / Carrier

An excellent an unused example of a 1941 British Military canvas water bucket by Maple & Co. showing just light storage marks.

These buckets were used to give water to horses, bring water up to machine guns and for a wide variety of purposes. They were also part of the officer’s camp set.

Made of a blue-green canvas it has rope handle on the top which secures to the bucket through a pair of heavy duty sewn fastenings.

The fibres in the fabric swelled when wet, preventing further water from penetrating through the fabric. It was lightweight, didn’t get squashed of dented like a metal bucket and could be folded flat so it didn’t take up much room.
