About this item
Awarded to Lieutenant William Comerford Watson who served with the Royal Air force. Served as a Lieutenant with the 40 Squadron Kite Balloon Unit and 211 Squadron of the Royal Force. British War Medal (LIEUT. W.C. WATSON. R.A.F.). Papers indicate he was stationed with the Kite Balloon Unit directly after joining the Royal Air Force as a service officer effective from 1st April 1918. He entered the French Theatre of Operations as part of the British Expeditionary Force (B.E.F.), 22nd October 1918. He was confirmed in the London Gazette 28th March 1919, under section Royal Air Force 2nd February 1919 with rank of Lieutenant. (with copy London Gazette and Further Service Confirmation).
