A very nice saddle form Cavalry Officer’s Peaked or Visor Cap by the well known Cap maker JC Kornacker.
Constructed in a high quality wool, separated top and bottom by the waffenfarb piping of the cavalry, the wool free from damage the piping with one small moth nip.
The green felt hat band is again free from moth the lower piping with just one small moth nip.
The Eagle and Swastika is in aluminium while the cockade and rosette are hand embroidered aluminium wire. Above the vulkanfibre peak or visor, the chin cord is again in aluminium wire secured at each side with a silvered pebbled button. Both are in very good condition, the underside of the visor, cross hatched to provide grip.
Inside, the lining is in very good condition the sides pleated and the sweat shield with the typical JC Kornacker Extra Klasse logo.
Forum discussion on this cap brought about one suggestion that the leather sweatband “might” have been replaced, but in my view the age and stitching is entirely in keeping with the rest of the Cap. Nevertheless, the comment was made.
