About this item
An very good original wartime example of a dispatch rider's helmet dated 1945 which is a size 7.
This pattern of helmet was introduced specifically for motorcyclists in 1942 and saw widespread issue throughout the rest of the Second World War. It shares the same shell as the Helmet, Steel, Airborne Troops but has a different liner system which is specific to this pattern.
The date is stamped inside the leather headband as well as the manufacturer's initials of 'BMB' which denotes British Motor Bodies, one of the most prolific helmet manufactures of the Second World War. Also stamped is the size of 7 inside a shield shape and the 1945 date.
The outside of the helmet has been refinished with a non-reflective matt finish green paint whilst the interior retains its factory finish.
The interior is in good condition with some sign of wear and use which are consistent with an issued example. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
This helmet would compliment any collection or WD bike.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
