About this item
An original Second World War Italian Regia Aeronautica pilot’s wing badge in good used condition.
This badge features the outstretched eagle with well defined feathering and is surmounted by the Royal Savoy crown which denotes use during the period of the Italian monarchy prior to 1946. The badge is produced in gilt brass and retains a good amount of its original finish which has toned nicely with age.
Badges of this pattern were worn by qualified pilots of the Regia Aeronautica during the Second World War and are a distinctive and attractive design. They remain popular with collectors today and represent a good alternative to the more commonly encountered German equivalents.
The condition is good overall with clear detail remaining to the eagle and crown. There is evidence of service wear and age-related patina to the surface as can be seen in the photographs. Please study the pictures carefully as they form part of the description.
This is a vintage item which is ‘sold as seen’
