Awarded to Private Alpha Fox of the Scots Guards. Queen South Africa (723 PTE. A. FOX. SCOTS GDS.). Born 1874 in Bolton, Lancashire. Joined the Scots Guards, enlistment/attestation papers record joining May 15th 1895 in London. Seeing service in South Africa during the Boer War with the 1st Battalion Scots Guards. Awarded Queen South Africa Medal with clasps Belmont and Modder River both clasps confirmed on medal roll and attestation papers. Then later serving with the 3rd Battalion Scots Guards, serving through the ranks to the rank of Sergeant. Papers indicate that now with the rank of Sergeant, Alpha Fox was placed on the reserve list after being discharged from the army in May 6th 1907.
