About this item

For sale is a Rare Post WW2 United Kingdom Diplomatic Missions Blood Chit containing the following languages Dari, English, Tajikistan, Urdu, Pashto, Turkmenistan, Persian, Uzbekistan, Baluchi, Pashwari, it also contains the contact numbers for the British embassies in each of the following countries Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, Pakistani and China.

The following message is written out in the above languages;

“I am British and I do not speak your language. I will not harm you! I bear no malice towards your people. My friend, please provide me food, water, shelter, clothing and necessary medical attention. Also, please provide safe passage to the nearest friendly forces of any country supporting the British and their allies. You will be rewarded for assisting me when you present this number and my name to British Authorities.”

This was most likely produced for the Afghanistan war 2001-2021 for British aircrew and forces. This blood chit is water proof.

In the simplest sense, a blood chit is a prepared message, written in local languages, that a lost service member can present to most anyone who might help. It offers a rough description of the predicament – “I am not from here and would like to get back to where I belong” – along with both a request for aid and the promise of a reward for assistance. The chits are carried by many air crews, particularly fixed-wing air crews, and by other service members deemed to be at what the military calls “high risk of isolation.”
