About this item
A nice example of a Second pattern Tropehelm or Pith Helmet, 1942 dated and in a size 55.
Made by an unusual maker, the vast majority being produced by the maker JHS, the helmet is in very good condition although a little dusty and showing only signs of light use.
The body of the Helmet is formed in one piece from two layers of wool felt with a felt band of the same colour at the start of the flair, the visor then trimmed in a grey green leather which shows light wear, and matching a detachable and adjustable chinstrap. At the top of the crown is a domed vent cover.
On the left side is a stamped alloy Heer eagle shield whilst the one on the right features the national colours.
Inside, the sweatband is leather, the dome lined with a single piece of compressed felt in red.
