An extremely rare pair of Kriegsmarine Goggle for use exclusively with the Tauchretter, the U-boat emergency breathing apparatus which was originally developed for U-Boat crews for emergency escapes and was also used in training divers and in conjunction with the midget submarines. The apparatus supplied oxygen to the wearer and also acted as a buoyant life preserver.
The Goggles are constructed in black rubber and are in virtually as new condition, free from damage of any kind. Lenses are circular glass with metal frames, the rubber bridge piece with the Draeger motif and D.R.P. The rubber headband is secured with a leather tab riveted into place.
It would be impossible to upgrade this example.
