About this item
A good WW1 British 1914 Pattern Leather Equipment Belt that has been used by a soldier to display his badge souvenirs, this very typical of allied troops when outside the line.
It has been fitted with WW1 cap badges for the Royal Engineers and the Machine Gun Corps, these alongside shoulder titles for the Highland Light Infantry and Australian Commonwealth Troops. There are also signs where another badge has been present but now is lost, this appears to have happened a long time ago. Aside from that overall condition is very good. The Belt has had all its equipment straps removed as well as the tongue behind the snake buckle, these modifications however are standard for such souvenir belts as they are not meant to carry equipment.
1914 Pattern Leather Equipment was introduced during the British manufacturing & supply crisis of 1914/15 as an emergency alternative to the 1908 Pattern Web Equipment. It was produced in both the UK and America. This is an American made P14 Belt recognisable by the double cap mechanical rivets used.
