About this item

For sale is a WW1 Lieut-Col Vere Lorraine Nuttall Pearson, D.S.O. Photograph & Certificate Group.

The first framed photograph is of the officers of 1st battalion of the middle Middlesex regiment of the presentation of colours by H.R.H Prince of wales (Col in chief) taken in Colchester on the 21st of October 1931. The group that this belongs to is sat next to H.R.H Prince of wales Edward. This photograph is framed and measures 41cm in length x 36cm in height.    The second framed photograph is a portrait of Lieut-Col Vere Lorraine Nuttall Pearson, D.S.O. Wearing his officers uniform with Middlesex regiment insignia. This framed photograph measures 17cm width x 23cm height.    The third framed piece is a certificate to Lieut-Col Vere Lorraine Nuttall Pearson, D.S.O. The title of the certificate states “Arthur Duke of Connaught and strathearn knight of the most noble order of the charter, grand prior in the British realm of the venerable order of the hospital of St John of Jerusalem”. This measures 32cm in width x 40cm height.    Vere was born in 1881 in Aldershot in Hampshire and later moved to Middlesex.    Vere first saw military action in South Africa 1898 to 1901, where he served at the rank of lieutenant with the 6th battalion Middlesex regiment where he was awarded the kings South Africa medal.    Lieut-Col Vere Lorraine Nuttall Pearson, D.S.O. Served with the 3rd & 4th Middlesex regiment during World War One. He was entitled to a British war medal, victory medal, 1914-15 star, a distinguished service order and was promoted many times during ww1. Unfortunately all these medals are missing. After ww1 he was awarded venerable order of the hospital of St John of Jerusalem (which is what the certificate is of). During World War One he served primarily in Egypt.    PEARSON D.S.O. Vere Lorraine Nuttal of Hawthorn Lodge Brack- nell Berkshire died on the 17th of January 1939 at the Kingsway Hotel Hove Sussex Probate London 24 March to Lloyds Bank Limited. Effects £2312 5s. 9d.   Condition wise the photographs are in excellent condition. The certificate appears to have some old water damage but nothing major. This is a very interesting group that belonged to a well decorated man.    Accompanying these framed original photos and certificate are 17 scans of his service records and scans of his mentions in the london gazette etc.   These will be sent via Parcel force express 24 and dispatched within two working days.
