    About this item

For sale is a WW2 Artillery Training Pamphlet Titled;    “Artillery Training Volume II HANDLING OF UNITS IN THE FIELD FIELD BRANCH ARTILLERY PAMPHLET No. 1 1948 (This pamphlet supersedes Artillery Training, Volume II, Pamphlets Nos. 2A, 1941 and 4A, 1944)” this was published by the war office on the 21st April 1948.    This was issued and is named to a Major J Stuart White of the kings own Scottish Borders.  The aim of this pamphlet was to do the following;   “The object of this pamphlet is to provide the regimental com- mander, his officers and NCOs with an outline of the problems likely to face them in war and to set out the principles to be followed in solving them. Ca muro sa The pamphlet is intended to be no more than a guide. Com- manders must interpret the principles laid down in accordance with the prevailing situation, and must not adhere rigidly to a set drill in circumstances which it was not designed to meet. In war, casualties to men and equipment will often call for rapid improvisation, and it is then that the commander, with a thorough understanding of the principles of handling his unit, shows his ability and is still able to produce fire in the volume and at the time and place required by the supported arm. stafquos adovel For training, however, it is necessary to lay down a detailed drill. This drill is based on the essential principles and can readily be adapted to meet different situations. ved noqque In order to give full weight to the problems of liaison, observa- tion and communications, the setting throughout the main body of this pamphlet is that of a towed field regiment in "direct sup- port of an infantry brigade. The points of difference in handling a self-propelled (SP) field, medium, heavy or super heavy regiment are covered in Chapter 9.”     This is in excellent condition and has all pages present.
