About this item
Wermacht Wehrpass (translated as "Army Pass" or "Soldier's Pass") was a personal identification document used by German soldiers during the time of Nazi Germany and World War II.
Key features of the Wehrpass:
Issued to soldiers: It served as a personal record for German soldiers who served in the Wehrmacht (the armed forces of Nazi Germany) during WWII.
WW2 German Wehrpass, in great condition. This was found in France, its first stamp is 1940. The owners name was Rudolf Lifka. I can make out the postal town of Linz. Its a great piece of memorabilia and getting more difficult to find.
Information included: The Wehrpass contained details about the soldier's name, date of birth, unit assignments, rank, awards, and other relevant military service history.
Medical and disciplinary records: It also recorded health conditions and any disciplinary actions taken against the soldier.
Commemorative and historical value: Today, original Wehrpasses are valuable as historical artifacts for collectors and historians.
The Wehrpass was not only a record for military service but also acted as an important identity document. It would often be kept on a soldier’s person during service for identification, especially when captured as a prisoner of war.
