    About this item

For sale is a WW2 British National Savings Committee Advertising/ Propaganda Double Sided Flyer Encouraging Men & Women In British Armed Forces To Save There Money Responsibly.    This leaflet is titled;   “To; The young and not so young Service men and women. From; An Older Soldier”   The rest of this leaflet states the follow;   “Since 1940 I have been encouraging you to save all you possibly can while you are in the Services. Your money is your own, you can do what you like with it, but you should never forget that you owe it to yourself-and to others-to make a success of your life. Facilities for saving have been provided in the Services and a great many men and women have used them. Are you one of them? I hope so, because some day you will be very glad if you have saved and very sorry if you have not. Believe me "something in the Bank" will give you confidence: it will protect you and yours against the rainy day we all meet at some period or other in our lives. Now that you are returning to civilian life you are receiving your gratuity, and if you have served in the ranks since 1st January, 1942, you will have your Service post-war credit. They are being paid to you in the form of a deposit in the Post Office Savings Bank. So long as you keep the money in a Savings Bank it will earn interest for you at 21%. How long will this money stay saved? That depends on you. It will take time before enough goods for everyone's needs are in the shops and it would be foolish to spend freely until they are there. But there will be plenty of people only too glad to take your money from you, and there will be plenty of temptations to spend it. Very nice while the money lasts! But if one day you find that you have none left, how will you make your dreams of success in life come true? Isn't it better to wait for the opportunity to arise when you can use the money to help yourself in your career? I remember some of the tragedies, the disappointments, the follies and the frauds which followed the payments of gratuities after the last war, and I know how worth while it is to wait. And now in addition to your gratuity you have your savings and your post-war credit. Do not spend your money till you need, and avoid the risks of which you have been warned. You have been told about the advisory service which has been set up throughout the country to help you solve the problems which will meet you on your return to civilian life. Save your money, or seek the best advice you can get before you part with it.   Hon. Director general h.m forces war savings committee.    H.M.F. 36 Issued by the National Savings Committee, London. C. & Co. 51/1535”    This is in mostly good condition, but it does have some folds to the edges.    This will be sent via  royal mail 1st class signed for and dispatched within two working days.    Seller reference number Box 2
