This is an interesting Medal group To George Shergold who served in both world wars. The ww1 medals are engraved “M.1793 G Shergold L.Ck.Mte RN”. The long service and good conduct medal is engraved “M.1793 G Shergold L.ck. Hms Foxglove”. George Shergold was born on the 22nd January 1891 in Portsmouth. His trade upon enlistment was a plasterer. He had brown hair, blue eyes, and described to have a fresh complexion. Aged 21 years old he enlisted into the British army on the 30th April 1910, serving for 18 consecutive years until he was discharged on the 30th November 1928. During his 18 years of service he served on the following ships; Victory I, fox glove, Achilles, dolphin, arrogant, Duke, Duke ii, Caesar and Dartmouth. There are other ships so please check the research for more details. Unfortunately it’s not known what his role/ position or regiment was during WW2, but was most likely a civil defence occupation or home guard.
