About this item
For sale is a WW2 Period British Army Royal Navy Boatswain Pipe Whistle & Chain.
This is in good working condition, and is marked with a kings crown and Royal Navy anchor.
A boatswain's whistle, or bosun's call, is a high-pitched, non-diaphragm whistle used on ships, historically for passing commands over the noise of the sea and now often for ceremonial purposes like piping officers aboard, using a series of distinct high and low notes (pipes) to signal various duties or welcome dignitaries. Its unique sound comes from air directed over a metal ball, with pitch changed by covering the hole with a finger, creating powerful, distinctive tones that carry far.
This will be sent via Royal Mail tracked 24 and dispatched within two working days.
