A particularly nice 1943 dated British Airborne Helmet (HSAT – Helmets Steel Airborne Troops) in a desirably large size 7 3/4.
Produced by BMB the shell retains the original granulated green factory finish, the shell without damage and complete with a nice period Helmet net which shows only light damage caused by the Helmet rim but which has clearly been in place for a very long time, witnessed by a clear outline on the shell when removed.
Inside, the leather sweatband is stamped to the manufacturer with the size and date, the leather itself showing the effects of perspiration and service use resulting in some holes. The two rear sections of the Sorbo rubber have hardened somewhat but remain fully intact and without loss.
The chinstrap is very good, the bump pad is in place as is the cotton harness, one strip of which has become detached at one end.
Overall, a very good early example of the type in a good large size.
