    About this item

For sale is a WW1 10th (Prince Of Wales Own Royal) Hussars Battle Honours Postcard. This is in good condition.

HISTORY AND TRADITIONS. The regiment was raised in 1715. It went to Germany, 1758-63, and took part in the battles of Minden, Warburg, Campen, Kirk-Denkern, Wilhelmstahl, and Groebenstein, besides numerous minor affairs during the campaign. It went to the Peninsula, 1808, and fought at Sahagun. Benevente, and Corunna. It then returned to England, but again proceeded to the Peninsula, 1813, and took part in the great battles of Vittoria, the Pyrenees, Orthes, and Toulouse. In 1815 it fought gallantly at Waterloo, and marched with the Allies to Paris. It was brought from India during the Crimean War. Dressed in plain clothes, the officers and men were sent up the Red Sea and taken across the desert to Alexandria, whence they were shipped to the seat of war. They served before Sevastopol and at Eupatoria. It was in the Afghan Campaign, 1878-9, and was present at the capture of Ali Masjid. It took part in the Soudan Campaign, 1884, under Sir Gerald Graham, including the desperate fighting at El Teb and Tamai. It took part in the fierce battles during the early part of the South African War, leading up to the capture of Pretoria, and served with distinction throughout the campaign.   These will be sent via royal mail 1st class signed for and dispatched within two working days.
