About this item

A rare pair of Royal Marines Khaki Drill Trousers dating from the 1930s or very early part of the Second World War.

This pattern of KD trousers is specific to the Royal Marines and differs from those used by the British Army and RAF. Made from the standard khaki colour cotton drill often used by the British military during this period, the trousers feature a fishtail back, a button fly and belt loops. The buttons are stamped brass examples which would suggest that the trousers date from the 1930s or very early 1940s. The trousers have a flat front, straight slash pockets and a conservative 9 1/2" cuff which give them a very early silhouette, more akin to the Great War than WW2.

The original owner's name is marked inside the trousers in a way which is typical of items owned by men serving in the Royal Marines. This may offer the prospect of further research.

The trousers will suit a 33" waist and when laid flat they measure -

Waist - 16 1/2"
Rise - 15"
Rear rise - 19 1/2"
Inside leg - 33"
Outside leg - 47"
Cuff - 9 1/2"

The trousers are in good condition with only limited signs of wear and use. There are a couple of small stains and a ladder to the rear of the right leg which is illustrated in the final picture. Overall they are a very clean example but please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a pair of pre-worn, vintage trousers of over 80 years old and may have small issues consummate with this.

A rare pair of early khaki drill trousers with some fantastic details!

This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
