About this item
A scarce original 1941 dated British Army Hospital Blue Dressing Gown in a size 3.
This pattern of dressing gown was produced for men who were in hospital or convalescent homes. It was issued alongside a three piece suit and is made from a bright French blue coloured serge wool. It is cut in a wide, A-line shape and features a seven button front and stand collar. It is a truly utilitarian garment with no other features, save for a single patch pocket to the interior which is made from white collar cotton. There is also a white cotton facing to the inside edge which is a detail carried over from the Hospital Blue uniforms of the Great War.
The coat is cut in a wide manner and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 26"
Inside arm - 21"
Outside arm - 26"
Shoulders - 19"
Length at rear - 49"
The coat is in good condition for its age and does not show any signs of wear or use. It does have some moth tracking however as well as a couple of holes to the bottom of the skirt which are evident in the pictures. Overall it displays well and is still totally wearable but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A rare piece of British military uniform from the Second World War and a great piece of utilitarian design!
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
