About this item

An original 1952 Dated Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's Tunic in a large size No 16.

Whilst this tunic is dated 1952 it is identical to those worn throughout the Second World War by all RAF airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant as both a working dress and a walking out uniform.

This particular example features staybrite Kings crown RAF buttons and a staybrite buckle is fitted to the waist belt. Period insignia is fitted to each sleeve including Leading Aircraftman rank and a wireless operator trade badge.

Inside the jacket retains its original issue label which states the size as 37" - 38" chest, 34" waist and height 6' 1" - 6' 2". Below this is the 1952 date and the War Department broad arrow. The maker's name of 'J. Harvey Ltd London' is also present.

When laid flat the jacket measures -

Chest - 20 1/2"
Waist - 16 1/2"
Inside arm - 21"
Outside arm - 28"
Shoulders - 17"
Length - 32 1/2"

The tunic is in good condition with only limited signs of wear and age. Overall it displays well and is still a nice deep blue colour and not washed or faded out. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have some small flaws commensurate with age.

This could suit a reenactor well due to being a hard to find tall size and will make a good stand-in for a war dated example.

This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
