About this item
An original 'Overalls Blouse Drill No.4' in good condition which dates from the Second World War.
This pattern of battledress jacket was produced alongside the denim version throughout WW2. It differs from the denim version being made from drill and was only produced in this material during the war years to supplement the supply of the denim pattern. To the untrained eye it looks the same as the denim version but is a different shade of green and of course doesn't have a selvedge.
The jacket is fitted with revolving shank buttons which are all held in place with the correct brass split rings. The buckle is the early pattern used throughout the Second World War. Inside the original label is no longer present, although there is clear evidence of where it was previously fitted. There is a number 9 stamped inside which may pertain to size.
The jacket will suit around a 40" - 42" chest and when laid flat the jacket measures -
Chest - 24 1/2"
Waist - 18 1/2"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 19"
Length - 21 1/2"
The jacket is in good condition with some signs of wear and use. There are no signs of undue wear and overall it is very wearable. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn vintage jacket which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice example of a piece of British military workwear which is guartenned to date from WW2.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
