About this item

An original British Army Officers poplin cotton collarless shirt dating from the 1940s.

This shirt is typical of those worn throughout WW2 and is essentially unchanged from those of the Great War. Made from a soft, khaki tan coloured poplin cotton; the shirt features a half placket, or 'tunic' front. This style of shirt was popular in the first half of the 20th Century in the UK losing favour to more fitted, full button front shirts in the 1950s. The shirt features a neckband style collar which is made from the same material as the body of the shirt. The sleeves end in barrel cuffs which are intended to be worn with cufflinks.

The shirt will fit around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 21 1/2"
Shoulders - 17"
Collar - 15"
Length at rear - 36 1/2"

The shirt is in very good condition for its age and is still very wearable. It only shows very limited signs of wear and age and on the whole it is in excellent condition. The shirt displays well and is very wearable but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A very nice original wartime period example which is in great condition.

This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
