About this item
A scrace original 1940 dated example of the RAF Ordinary Airman’s forage cap in good condition.
These caps came into issue with the RAF shortly before the Second World War and were worn by all airmen of the rank of Flight Sergeant and below. It is now an iconic piece of wartime raf clothing synonymous with both Sergeant Aircrew and ground crew alike.
This particular example is clearly dated 1940 inside meaning it is a Battle of Britain period item. It bears the 1940 contract number as well as the date to a piece of white cotton which is the style of label usually encountered on early war produced RAF forage caps. There is also an A.I.D stamp which is often encountered on early war clothing.
The cap is in reasonable condition with only limited signs of age or wear. Overall it displays well but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
Overall a nice example of an RAF OA forage cap with a hard to find early date which would compliment any Battle of Britain collection.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
