Rare Original 1943 Dated Indian Made RAF Ordinary Airman's Shirt

A scarce original example of an Indian made RAF Ordinary Airman's collarless shirt as worn during the late inter-war period and throughout the Second World War, which is dated 1943. 

This shirt is made from the blue cotton material which features a yellow and white wavy fleck pattern to it and is heavier with a coarser feel when compared to British made examples. This material was replaced with a more standard end-on-end material making these shirts very hard to find today. It features a half-placket front and a barrel cuff. All of the buttons are the original factory fitted examples and the cuff has the ability to be fitted with cufflinks or fastened with buttons.

This particular example still retains its original stamps to the interior which are typical of those found in wartime made Indian items. The 1943 date is present as is the circular size stamp which denotes the shirt as a size 1. 

The shirt is a small size example which will suit around a 36" chest and when laid flat it measures - 

Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 22 1/4"
Shoulders - 16"
Length at back - 35"
Collar - 13"

The shirt is in good condition and appears to be unworn. It could be described as 'deadstock' and would be hard to better in many ways. Please study these and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have other small issues commensurate with age.

This is a rare shirt to find and would compliment an RAF collection with a focus on the Far East or the campaigns in Sicily and Italy particularly well.
