    About this item

An original Canadian made DPM parachutists smock in a size 4.

This pattern of smock was produced during the late 1980s and features the classic British Disruptive Pattern Material camouflage pattern. The material has a high synthetic content which makes the jacket both lightweight and waterproof - much more so than the early British DPM smocks. The jackets design is a classic British military smock with many details still recognisable from the WW2 Denison Smock. The front of the jacket fastens with a double ended 'ACME' branded zipper and there are four patch pockets located to the front. There is a fishtail at the rear which can be fastened to the front using a series of lift the dot fasteners (picture 4). Adjusters are fitted to each hip and again fasten with lift the dot fasteners. The elbows feature a reinforcing panel and the cuff fastens with a press stud.

Inside the smock there are two labels. The larger label bears details pertaining to wear whilst the other label is the manufacturer's label. It bears the title 'Smock Parachutist Disruptive Pattern' above which is the maker's name of 'Ambridge & Thompson 1987'. The size is stated as 4 which is intended to fit a 33" - 37" chest. The date of August 1989 is also present.

When laid flat the smock measures -

    Chest - 24"
    Inside arm - 21"
    Outside arm - 25"
    Shoulders - 17 1/2"
    Length at rear - 33 1/2"

The jacket is in good condition with only very limited signs of wear and age. The front of the lift-the-dot fasten on the right breast pocket is missing as is one of the same fasteners which holds the 'fishtail' onto the back of the jacket. These can clearly be seen in the pictures. Overall it is a totally wearable jacket but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre worn pair of trousers, which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A great variation of the parachute smock!
