Scarce Original 1942 Dated British 'Jackets Padded' - Size 2

A scarce original denim 'Jackets, Padded' made in 1942. 

This pattern of Jacket was produced alongside a matching pair of trousers which were also made in the same green coloured denim material. The design closely follows the Soviet Russian 'Telogreika' pattern of padded winter clothing . The jacket features a single breasted front which fastens with buttons and features a draft flap behind the buttons for extra warmth. The front fastens with buttons and the buttonholes feature leather reinforcing around the outside. There is a large fur collar which features a button and loop detail which allows it to be fastened around the wearer's neck in an upright position. The jacket features a matching waist belt which is also made in green denim.

The interior of the coat is lined in a thick pile brushes cotton and there is a hanging loop at the neck. The original label is still present inside the coat and it bears the title 'Jackets, Padded' below which is the size of 2. The maker's name of 'J. Morris & Sons' is present as is the 1942 date and the War Department broad arrow marking. As well as this there is a War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'O' and denotes 1942 as the year of issue. 

The jacket is intended to fit a 35" - 38" chest and when laid flat it measures - 

Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 17"
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders - 19"
Length at rear - 31"

The Jacket is in worn condition with various signs of wear and age. There are a variety of stains and repairs as well as general wear etc which is illustrated in the pictures.
