    About this item

An original pair of original RAF MK VIII Goggles dating from the Second World War.

These goggles are arguably the most iconic of all raf goggles and saw use with aircrews from 1942 well into the postwar years. They also saw action with USAAF crews, Fleet Air Arm and Coastal Command amongst others.

This particular pair features the curved lip to the brass frames which denotes them as being of wartime manufacture. They are in reasonable condition and still retain the majority of their original blue paint to the brass frames. The leather face cushions show signs of age and there is some loss of stitching as detailed in the pictures. The chamois backing also shows signs of wear and use as can be seen in the pictures.

The goggles are fitted with clear lense which display well with some signs of delamination.

The goggles feature an original elastic strap which retains a small amount of elasticity and features the correct metal adjuster and both leather pullers still being present.

Overall these are a good pair of original RAF goggles which display very well, especially when displayed on a helmet.
