WW2 RAF MKVIA FLYING SPECTACLES - CROOKES

WW2 RAF MKVIA FLYING SPECTACLES - CROOKES. These spectacles were issued to pilots and aircrews who were flying over water and highly reflective surfaces. Designed to reduce glare and cut through haze, these saw most use with coastal command aircrews. Manufactured in a green plastic material with polarizing lenses, they were very effective and proved popular. 

This pair are specifically MKVIA spectacles, as they are manufactured "CROOKES" and fitted with B2 lenses, also marked on the spectacle's side panel. The frames are in excellent condition without damage or issue. The hinged side panels are also without issue and still open and close nicely. The side panel is also marked with details, A.M., SPECTACLES, MARK VIA, CROOKES B2, stores reference number 22C/883, serial number 8548. The lenses are tinted and still relatively clear, but do have some minor delamination, you can still see through them well. The spectacles still with original elasticated strap, and the adjustment buckle with some light oxidation. The strap has some light damage as photographed, but it still retains good elasticity. A nice pair of these rarer spectacles, which would grace any RAF collection, museum, display, or reenactor's use.
