Awarded to Private William Joseph Edwin Norton of the Welsh Regiment. 1914-15 Star, British War Medal & Victory Medal (33612 PTE. W. J. E. NORTON. WELSH R.). He was to see service with the 8th Battalion entering the Balkans Theatre of Operations on the 25th November 1915. Further service details notes that Private William J. E. Norton volunteered in November 1914 with the 3rd Welsh Regiment. He was sent the following year to Egypt, whilst overseas he was engaged on various important duties. Details of which are not noted in the service roll. Unfortunately at some point he contracted Malaria whilst serving out in Egypt. Notes indicate that at sometime after he was sent to Mesopotamia working a Signaller with his unit until the end of the war. He was demobilised in April 1919 of that year. (with copy medal rolls & service roll).
