Battalion Rifle Brigade) engraved naming, plugged and fitted with a rather crude Crimea-style suspension,
Condition contact marks and edge bruising, nearly very fine
FOOTNOTEWilliam John Carless was born in Bedford in 1828 and attested for the Rifle Brigade in London on 31 December 1845. He served with the 2nd Battalion in North America and then in the Crimea, and was discharged on 9 December 1856, ‘totally unfit for further service’, after 9 years and 344 days’ service.
