LSGC correctly named J57023 CW Westlake AB RN HMS Resolution
Claude Wilfred Westlake was born to John and Laura in 1901. We find him living at Church Cottages in Liss, Hampshire in 1911 but his father had since died.
He was a farmboy when he enlisted.
We find him at HMS Impregnable in August 1916 and he sees out the remainder of WWI on HMS Barham. He was on HMS Barham until September 1920 so he was present at the surrender of the High Seas Fleet.
His WWI medals were sent to his ship HMS Dido and his LSGC was awarded to him in 1934.
Claude died in 1947 in Portsmouth.
The medals are swing mounted on original silk ribbons on a clasp as worn.
