About this item
Correctly named 35651 Pte WA Beamson W Rid R
William Atkinson Beamson was born in Coxhoe, Durham to Isabel in 1898. There seems to be no record for his father.
In 1911, we find him with his mother and grandfather living at High New Row, Kelloe, Coxhoe, Durham.
He served with the 2nd Bn West Ridings and is entitled to just the Pair.
After the War in 1921, we see him living at High West Street in Coxhoe and working as a collier for Walter Scott and Co, possibly at East Hetton Colliery.
He married Margey Parry in 1925.
In 1939, still working at a colliery, he is now working above ground as a telephone assistant and living at 15 Sharon Avenue, Kelloe.
He died in 1983.
Both medals have original silk ribbons.
