    About this item

An original British Royal Navy Commander's hat which was made by 'Gieves & Hawkes' in the 1980s.

This pattern of cap was worn by Commodores Second Class, Captains and Commanders for many years. It features a white coloured man made whipcord effect top and a black coloured peak which has bullion running around it. A black coloured patent leather chin strap is fitted to the front as is a bullion Royal Navy officer's cap badge.

Inside the cap the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the maker's name of 'Gieve & Hawles of Savile Row' along with three Royal appointments.

The internal circumference of the hat measures at 22" meaning it will suit a UK size 6 7/8 head.

The cap is in good condition with some signs of wear and age. There are no serious flaws or damage but there is some limited staining, particularly to the top of the crown. Please take time to study these and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice origina Falklands War era peaked cap from a prestigious British maker.
