WW2 German DAK Deutsches Afrika Korps Sun helmet.

WW2 German DAK Deutsches Afrika Korps Sun helmet.  Called Tropische Kopfbedeckung by the German army.  It was issued to German army troops from 1941 while serving in North Africa

This is the second type a post 42 model that has a felt innards with a felt covering.

This particular example is in very good unissued condition, with all parts present and intact, showing very little wear if any. The original olive/khaki felt covering is completely intact, and retains its original colour well. The shape of the helmet is in exccellent , Though there seems to be what could be a tiny bit of moth on the visor. ( see photo)

The helmet band, which hides the attachment rivets for the chin strap and liner, are in excellent condition as well. The original chin strap is present and in excellent condition.  The green leather trim around the rim is still fully intact with no tearing.

Has the original badge on right hand side ( a painted metal ) missing the one on the lefthand side.  But you can see the three holes where it once was. As these badges were fitted with three prongs

The interior of the helmet in red wool felt still has great colour and not interior moth.  The leather liner itself is in very good condition and supple. 

No makers name other than a size ticket as seen in the picture and a red stamp with the size 57 on the inside of the headband

Due to its as new condition I was concerend of its authenticity.  So I had this apraised by an expert who authenticated and confirmed it as an original item.

This will make a fantastic addition to any German WWII Afrikakorps collection!
