About this item
An excellent example of a Kriegsmarine Officer’s Peaked or Visor Cap appropriate to ranks of Korvettenkapitän, Fregattenkapitän or Kapitän zur See.
Constructed in a high quality navy blue wool the cap is free from moth or other damage and shows evidence of light use only. There is a small area of wear to the top edge of the hat band to the right of the cockade.
Typical of the 1936 Pattern worn by the Kriegsmarine brim is wide with lightly padded sides. Both Eagle and Cockade are in golden Celleon, the Cockade hand applied to the mohair hat band. The chinstrap is black leather and secured at each side by a gilded Kriegsmarine button.
The visor or peak is black vulcanfibre with a navy blue wool covering to the top edge and a row of hand embroidered oak-leaves in gold Celleon threads. The forward edge of the visor is trimmed in simulated black leather.
Inside, the cap is fully lined in blue Rayon, the sweat diamond complete. The Sweat Band is leather with what appears to be a tailor’s or stores label still in place.
