About this item
An original 1945 dated Canadian made khaki beret as worn by motorised infantry, the Reconnaissance Corps, officers and many more during the Second World War.
The beret is made from a khaki brown coloured wool and features a black coloured leather sweatband and a black cotton drill lining. Two black metal vents are fitted to the underside of the hat and the sweatband retains its original drawstring which is again black coloured.
Inside the cap the original markings are still bright and legible. The maker's name of 'Grand Mere Knitting Company Limited' is present as is the size of 7 1/8 and the 1945 date. The Canadian acceptance stamp is also present and features the War Department broad arrow surrounded by the letter C.
The overall condition of the beret is excellent as can be seen in the pictures. It does not appear to have ever been worn and overall displays very well.
An excellent example of this pattern of beret with good clear markings.
